KATIE'S RECOVERY WAS NOT SUPPOED TO HAPPEN.

People with decades-long, severe ME are not expected to recover.
Katie did — but only when ordinary buildings were removed from the equation entirely.

The Week Everything Changed

In the first week, Katie could stand again.
She washed a few clothes by hand.
She cooked a simple meal.
She felt hunger — real hunger — for the first time in years.
Nothing about this was supposed to be possible.
After more than thirty years of severe ME, repeated medical crises, and long stretches where survival itself was uncertain, recovery was not expected. Not by doctors. Not by anyone who understood the illness
And yet, in a small, carefully adapted trailer — free enough of the triggers that had been poisoning her body — something began to shift.
Her body began to recover.
A Pattern Written in the Body

This wasn’t hope or belief.
It was something that happened again and again.
Each time Katie was able to live in a sufficiently clean, low-trigger environment, her health improved with startling speed. Her gut began to function. She could eat. Strength returned.
And each time she was forced back into ordinary housing, the reversal was just as fast.
Collapse.
Starvation.
Medical crisis.
Over the last few years alone, Katie has survived seven life-threatening episodes.
Eight Days Later
On the eighth day, the trailer burned down.
A faulty power cable caused a fire that destroyed the shelter and almost everything Katie owned — the one environment that had finally allowed her body to begin healing.

The recovery stopped.

The Stakes Are Higher Now
Since the fire, Katie has developed Kounis syndrome — a condition where severe allergic reactions can trigger sudden cardiac events.
This has already caused a heart attack.
What once made her gravely ill now also places immediate strain on her heart. Standard houses are no longer just intolerable.
They are dangerous.

Why This Story Is Here
Katie does not need conventional housing.
She needs the one kind of shelter that has already allowed her body to recover.

Our goal is to buy Katie a custom-made metal trailer, with a very basic setup for a bed and a cooking space.

We also aim to provide for a simple outdoor shower setup so that Katie can stay clean and free from allergens and toxic substances that make her ill. This is a fundamental part of the healing protocol for her illness.

We hope to improve this situation and show that another path is possible towards healing.
With your donations, you will be helping create a home in which Katie can heal in and hopefully thrive after man, many years of intense suffering.
Your contribution is very appreciated by the circle of friends Katie has gathered around her who have been following her on her journey and wish for her to find relief and joy in life again.
